Basic Model Shading

 

 

Multiple Materials in a single Object

 

Add mesh cube
rotate until you can see 3 faces

Create 4 materials - gray red green blue

Shading panel (F5) / Links and Pipline / Add New material / name "Gray"

Do this three more times for / red /green / blue
For each select the color tab next to Col (material) and pick a color

 

Create 4 material indices

Editing (F9) / Links and Materials / (right side of the dialog box)New (three times since the default is one material index per object)

The button with "4 Mat 1" this means there are 4 material indices and number 1 is selected.

Select only one face of the cube.

Click the arrows until it says "4 mat 1" then click "Assign"

You have assigned material indicies 1 as the default color to the active face, and by default to the rest of the cube.

 

Assign a new indicies to the current face.

Select the Right Arrow so the bar says "4 mat 2" ( 4 materials, 2nd indicies)

Shading panel (F5) / Links and Pipline / select the up/down arrow for material choices and pic "red"

Back to Editing (F9), repeat the process for material indicices 3 and 4
