Goals In addition to learning 3D software the student is expected to develop and demonstrate an understanding of motion, timing and image composition.
Focus on quality of form with the expectation of the student to self critique.
Expose students to “real world” 3D animation production pipeline.

Recommended Further Reading. The following book is not required, but will enrich your experience in this class.
The Official Blender 2.3 Guide: Free 3D Creation Suite for Modeling, Animation, and Rendering, Ton Roosendaal and Stefano Selleri
Structure Lectures, sample work and demonstration with time given to individual and group work during class hours.
Class topics include The twelve principles of animation
Basic scene, animation planning and storyboarding
Storytelling
Story arc
Lip sync and motion study
Acting for animation
Final Project Student will present a culmination of techniques in a final 3D animation.
Assignments
& Portfolio Assignments are due at the beginning of the class session on the assignment
due
date. Late assignments will not be accepted without prior consent of the
instructor. Students are required to submit digital files stored on an
ISO9660 CD. Files must be clearly labeled with name or student number,
assignment number, and date. Files must be tested and verified to open on a PC
computer.
Students will be assessed on their creative content, technique, concept,
artistic intention, written proposals, participation, attendance and
professional attitude.

I Incomplete
Incompletes An incomplete will only be granted in cases of extreme circumstances.
An incomplete is granted only to those whom up until then had been passing the course but due to matters beyond their control, was unable to complete course requirements. Incompletes not finished by the end of the following semester will revert to an ‘F’.
Attendance Attendance is mandatory. More than three absences will result in a drop in one letter grade for the course. Students must discuss any special circumstances with the instructor prior to any attendance issues. Students are expected to be punctual and present for scheduled group critiques grade.
During the lecture portion of the lab, cell phones and music players must be off.
